Rajinikanth was given the award for Entertainer of the Year from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the NDTV Indian of the Year Awards in New Delhi on January 17. Rajinikanth while talking on the occasion said that he is honoured with the award and is happy to receive the award from the hands of our Prime Minister.

Speaking out for the first time on joining politics, superstar Rajnikanth, said that God has given him an actorís role, but if he gives him a politicianís role, he will accept it. Rajini went to New Delhi along with wife Latha to recieve the award.A R Rahman, was given NDTVís Music Award, the Leader of the Year award was given to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
