200804051520 Maran’s Sun Network has moved its regional language news bureaus out of Chennai to their respective states. This is yet another repercussion of the fall-out between the Maran’s & ruling party Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam (DMK) last year. The regional news channel bureaus will now operate from Secunderabad, Bangalore & Thiruvananthapuram. Sun will also move its corporate headquarters out of Anna Arivalayam - which is also DMK party headquarters. Sun TV is constructing a new multi-storied building as its headquarters in Chennai. It will be ready in 2-3 years.

SUN Direct TV(DTH network) becomes the first carrier to offer in MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) video to Direct-to-Home(DTH) broadcast service. Mpeg-4 AVC / H.264 is the codec which was used in Blu-ray disc (High Definition Disc). Currently providing 120 Standard Definition (SD) channels to their subscribers and plan to provide High Definition (HD) channels in near future. Already started test signals of HD broadcast in various parts of Chennai(Tamil Nadu). SUN TV group started in Chennai, Tamil Nadu in 1993 and expanded to neighboring states like Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
