Movie Peranmai is being directed by S.P.Jananathan starring Jayam Ravi in the lead role. It began its first schedule on March 12, 2008. Early indications suggested that Navya Nair, Karthika and Akshaya would portray three of the heroines but all three have denied their participation in the film. Jayam Ravi has lost weight for the role of a forest officer in this film.He plays a one-man army in this film similar to that of Sylvester Stallone in Rambo. Debutants Saranya, Tanusika, Varsha, Vasundra, Liyasree play the lead female roles. The film also has an elephant which is said to have a huge part in the film.

Director Jananathan had said one-liner to Jeyam Ravi and not the complete narration. He did so, because, there were scenes in his mind that this young chap would never take up. One such biggest thing was witnessed on the shooting sets of Mullukaadu, where he was almost naked since that scene demanded for it.

The entire spot had Mumbai models and other actresses surrounding him and he felt more disgusted about Jananathan since he never depicted these scenes earlier. Ravi never wanted to take up this shot, asked the assistants to disperse the public and then completed it. Broken down by this, Jeyam Ravi was so upset that he didn’t have his food for the entire day. Does it sound sad? Well, think about the laurels he is gonna win for his performance.
